Here’s a good article/how-to from GuidingTech on using encryption and the use of the open-source TrueCrypt utility. I’ve been using it for years and feel very safe encrypting my data backups onto it for shared or flash drives.

Here’s a potential way to make your ink go farther. Simply change the font in the documents you print!
Because different fonts require different amounts of ink to print, you could be buying new printer cartridges less often if you wrote in, say, Century Gothic rather than Arial. Schools and businesses could save thousands of dollars with font changes.

I’m a big fan of Arial fonts, however in a simple print test at home, I can see where Century Gothic would work just fine.
Google has some great on-line apps that are easy to put to use. I’ve been playing around with it a bit and have been very impressed.
